I’m here to completely blow your mind people. It’s the 11th hour, you suddenly realize you have a myriad of guests coming over, and with all of your holiday preparations, somehow you completely missed baking cookies (or perhaps you did bake them, but the stress of the season caused you to consume them all. Or your […]

With the release of the most recent Star Wars movie, I thought I’d pay hômage to the overall cannon of celestial movies and crank out this epic, Russian-doll style peanut butter ball. That’s right people, this is a peanut butter ball, inside of a peanut butter ball, inside of another peanut butter ball, and all surrounded […]

I totally haven’t even read this book, and its topic seems a little too serious-sauce for my usual attempts at whimsy, but I loved how much the name fit, so deal with it 😉  (my alternative name was “Magic (Bar) Mike” Thoughts? Feel free to vote on a preference, being sure to indicate how awesome […]

….or “I’ve Got Mad Skill(et)s…” (and I’m appeasing them with cookies 😉 ). Oh the noble cookie, capable of being the most decadent and fru fru of the confectionery realm (I really decided to embrace the snobbery in this sentence), but also able to be the simplest and most nostalgic (at least in my opinion) of all […]

Halloween! She has come around yet again with all of her terror, grisliness, phobias and of course, excuses for parties. Am I right? For me, the awesome-sauce element of this holiday is that, since I’m in the midst of Christmas baking (I know you don’t like the big “C” word this early in the season […]

I am definitely a person who has a not-so-secret love affair with liquid smoke. I don’t know what it is about it, but it makes me swoon rapturously, and I am admittedly pretty heavy handed with it if I’m making soups, stews or chilis (particularly if I won’t be foisting it upon other people. This […]

Because I love oatmeal in all of it’s various forms (well…I’m maybe not so big a fan of instant oatmeal I’ll admit. But I mean seriously people? Was this really a product that needed to get more convenient? I mean, you can cook quick oats in the microwave in like 2 minutes, and put on […]

Remember the Fresh Prince of Bel Air? I still know all the words to the theme song. Some might be embarrassed about that, but I wear it like a badge of pride. Remember the episode where they changed to a new Aunt Viv? I loved that they actually addressed the fact that she was new: […]

Alternatively I had thought about making the title for this post (said as if you were about to sneeze) “Ca-shew! Ca-shew! Ca-shEEEEWWWWWWW!!!”. However, this would’ve been a reference to a certain family member who totally sneezes like this (although making the more traditional “Achoo” sound. They might be nuts, but they’re not that nuts 😉 […]

About Amber

Amber Profile

Hi, I'm Amber Trudeau.  I bake.... a lot.

I'm also vegan, and found that whenever I went out to a restaurant my dessert choices were limited to sorbet, sorbet, and sorbet.  So I started making my own desserts. I wanted them to taste good though - so my ultimatum was to make delicious desserts that also happen to be dairy-free and egg-free. Every week or so, I challenge myself to try something new.  To recreate some kind of traditional dessert that tastes amazing without using animal products.
