So the secret’s obviously out on which “mystery” condiment we’ll be embracing today. I rub my hands together with relish and glee (after which I had to give them a right scrubbing because my hands were coated in green goo and whatever it is that “glee” is made of? It’s invisible, but surprisingly difficult to […]

…or “Short(bread) Circuit” because technically these are supposed to be shortbread. However, I’m incredibly incredibly picky with what I deem shortbread, so, not sure really if it’s an appropriate title in this case, but I don’t care because honestly? In the words of Ned Flanders, they tasted rather scrum-diddly-umptious and I would totally make them again. […]

Ok, so being the big liar that I am, I’m opting to do a “real” (aka what I’d actually intended to post last week) New Year’s post. It’s a week late technically, but if you really think about, today is actually my first post of 2018 so it’s really my first post of the New Year, so […]

Deep Space Wine

December 03 , 2017 by Amber Trudeau - in Brownies, Cake, Cupcakes, Icing

Let’s pretend we’re classy here for a week OK? OK. How do we do that you ask? I think if you douse anything in enough wine (provided you don’t tell anyone it came from a box), only a fool would think it hadn’t become a little more artsy and high brow. Now I know I’ve […]

At least, that’s what I hear, so if you make this you’ll be totally safe to stand out in the middle of an epic thunderstorm with a bowl of deliciousness for protection. Who knew you were so versatile little grain of many colours? (is that a musical in the making or is it just me? […]

Yeah!!! New themed month. You know you’re excited, stop trying to act like you’re too cool to express emotions (unless you’re Data of course, at which point, I suppose I could let it slide. Yes, it’s true, aren’t you proud of me Kevin? I made a Star Trek reference. I never thought I’d see the day […]

I am definitely a person who has a not-so-secret love affair with liquid smoke. I don’t know what it is about it, but it makes me swoon rapturously, and I am admittedly pretty heavy handed with it if I’m making soups, stews or chilis (particularly if I won’t be foisting it upon other people. This […]

Remember the Fresh Prince of Bel Air? I still know all the words to the theme song. Some might be embarrassed about that, but I wear it like a badge of pride. Remember the episode where they changed to a new Aunt Viv? I loved that they actually addressed the fact that she was new: […]

Death by chocolate, is there really any way to go that sounds sweeter? Maybe drowning in boiling melted chocolate would not be so great due to the whole burning your flesh thing (and also, you’d likely get chocolate up your nose and that just sounds both unpleasant and incredibly wasteful 😉 ). So my book […]

About Amber

Amber Profile

Hi, I'm Amber Trudeau.  I bake.... a lot.

I'm also vegan, and found that whenever I went out to a restaurant my dessert choices were limited to sorbet, sorbet, and sorbet.  So I started making my own desserts. I wanted them to taste good though - so my ultimatum was to make delicious desserts that also happen to be dairy-free and egg-free. Every week or so, I challenge myself to try something new.  To recreate some kind of traditional dessert that tastes amazing without using animal products.
