Halloween! She has come around yet again with all of her terror, grisliness, phobias and of course, excuses for parties. Am I right? For me, the awesome-sauce element of this holiday is that, since I’m in the midst of Christmas baking (I know you don’t like the big “C” word this early in the season […]

I am definitely a person who has a not-so-secret love affair with liquid smoke. I don’t know what it is about it, but it makes me swoon rapturously, and I am admittedly pretty heavy handed with it if I’m making soups, stews or chilis (particularly if I won’t be foisting it upon other people. This […]

Alternatively I had thought about making the title for this post (said as if you were about to sneeze) “Ca-shew! Ca-shew! Ca-shEEEEWWWWWWW!!!”. However, this would’ve been a reference to a certain family member who totally sneezes like this (although making the more traditional “Achoo” sound. They might be nuts, but they’re not that nuts šŸ˜‰ […]

…No, I’m not asking about your dating type (or personal description…I don’t know how you word your online dating profile! I will freely admit to knowing absolutely nothing about online dating and what goes on there. I luckily found the yin to my yang (that sounded weirdly dirty, but you know what I’m saying) before […]

A pun by any other name would….well probably be better than this one, so there’s that. This week, I’m going to bring you what I’m going to call the “real estate agent” version of dessert bait and switch (except in a good way I promise! šŸ™‚ ). Because I know what you’re thinking…”Amber, do you […]

When I stumbled across a recipe for what was labelled “Ginger Crunch” cookies/ slices, I was immediately intrigued and merrily skipped through the blog post in which it appearedĀ until I got to the recipe and was eagerly looking for the “crunch” element. I was incredibly disappointed. It was basically just a shortbread cookie topped with […]

We all know that I clearly have no illusions about this being a “healthy” blog. Despite common misconceptions, just because something is vegan does not mean it’s healthy. Now can we all please pass this message on to the blogosphere and/or the internet/world in general? To be perfectly honest, I’m sure more people would come […]

This post shouldn’t even exist. The only reason for my sharing this with you is because I was test running some ginger praline that I wanted to see about incorporating into something for a well thought outĀ future post (still to come, but I’ll keep y’all in suspense for now). However, this praline turned out incredibly […]

So I actually made these quite a while ago, back when, if you remember, I had an insane overabundance of apples to get through. After a couple of weeks, realizing the apples in my fridge were still taking up an inordinately large percentage of some much needed chill factor real estate, I started trying to […]

About Amber

Amber Profile

Hi, I'm Amber Trudeau. Ā I bake.... a lot.

I'm also vegan, and found that whenever I went out to a restaurant my dessert choices were limited to sorbet, sorbet, and sorbet. Ā So I started making my own desserts. I wanted them to taste good though - so my ultimatum was to make delicious desserts that also happen to be dairy-free and egg-free. Every week or so, I challenge myself to try something new. Ā To recreate some kind of traditional dessert that tastes amazing without using animal products.
