..anyone else a lover of Judy Bloom? I’m sure she’d punch me square in the face for sacrilegiously using her book title in this clearly not-intended-for-childhood-audiences way, but…what are you gonna do about it Judy? Huh???!!! Yeah, that’s what I thought (ummm…please don’t sue me, I’ll provide you with free Margarita cookie samples! That should […]

It’s been a little while, but here I am, comin’ at you with another THEMED MONTH!!! In case it’s not blatantly obvious, this one is cookies inspired by beloved cocktails. I figured I would start with the “craziest” sounding idea, and make some Caesar (aka Bloody Mary since I’m obviously not using Clamato juice here) […]

Personally, I’m a big fan of incorporating savoury herbs into dessert (strawberry-basil, lemon-thyme, apple and sage, so many possibilities! I even had a whole themed month about it, so if you’re interested, check out one (or all!) of these posts – rosemary, basil, dill (surprisingly my favourite tasting of the 4) or oregano). In trying […]

That’s right folks, you get double the puns for the price of one! I mean, can you really have too much pun(s)? Of course not – that was clearly a rhetorical question 😉 . I will have you know however, that that double punning wasn’t done just for the joy of it, but because I’m […]

I am super in love with these. I know you probably have just stopped believing me on that front by now because I say it so often it’s lost all meaning. However, I don’t understand what’s not to like here. This week I’m actually incorporating two different condiments. Double the chance for disaster? Of course. But, despite […]

THEMED MONTH!!!! I’m super excited about it because there is just so so much potential for disaster here. What can I say? I just love livin’ on the edge like that (which then reminded of that Aerosmith song. I ❤ the teenage nostalgia of that tune). To get you in the mood for this month, I […]

I am definitely a person who has a not-so-secret love affair with liquid smoke. I don’t know what it is about it, but it makes me swoon rapturously, and I am admittedly pretty heavy handed with it if I’m making soups, stews or chilis (particularly if I won’t be foisting it upon other people. This […]

More peanuts/peanut butter???!!! Seriously Amber, get a room 😉 . OK, I promise I’ll do something not peanut butter related for next week, but stick with me here, because these are actually totally different from anything else peanut buttery that I’ve done before. I mean look at those innocent looking candy cups of joy! They […]

So I actually made these quite a while ago, back when, if you remember, I had an insane overabundance of apples to get through. After a couple of weeks, realizing the apples in my fridge were still taking up an inordinately large percentage of some much needed chill factor real estate, I started trying to […]

About Amber

Amber Profile

Hi, I'm Amber Trudeau.  I bake.... a lot.

I'm also vegan, and found that whenever I went out to a restaurant my dessert choices were limited to sorbet, sorbet, and sorbet.  So I started making my own desserts. I wanted them to taste good though - so my ultimatum was to make delicious desserts that also happen to be dairy-free and egg-free. Every week or so, I challenge myself to try something new.  To recreate some kind of traditional dessert that tastes amazing without using animal products.
