A couple of weeks ago I received another challenge request to make macarons. To which I responded out loud to an empty room “Hell yeah!” (well…one of my cats was sitting/sleeping in the room, and though I may have startled her slightly with my exuberance, I also think I detected a gleam of excitement in […]

Although our freezer isn’t yet completely devoid of Christmas cookies, I couldn’t wait any longer to make something. I’ve had so many ideas rattling around in my brain that if I didn’t do something soon, some of them would probably have been lost to time completely and never been made 🙁 They never would’ve felt the […]

I bring you both the legend, and a photo of the cookies in their “real-life” ready-to-be-transported form. I figured I would add multiple visuals of this eye “candy” for your drooling pleasure 🙂 (yes! a terrible pun that works on both levels!) Here’s the sneak preview of the Christmas cookie offerings for 2014 – I can’t […]

Kevin randomly said to me the other day that one of his favourite cookies growing up was the fig newton. First of all, I called bulls*** on that assertion straight to his face because I know him well enough to know, that if it doesn’t have chocolate or peanut butter (or even better, some combination […]

Sometimes I have way too many things that I want to make all at once and I find it difficult to determine which thing to bake. Do I want to go healthy(ish), or go for all out decadence? Will I have anywhere to bring said baked good afterwards and if so, what will this audience […]

Mmmm…burgers? What are these doing in a vegan dessert blog? It’s because they’re actually dessert! Burger patties are made of dates, figs, raisins and coconut and then I cooked them on the stove to give them that burger-y look…Buns made of vanilla-almond cupcakes. There’s a “cheese sauce” base made of tofutti cream cheese+icing sugar and orange […]

About Amber

Amber Profile

Hi, I'm Amber Trudeau.  I bake.... a lot.

I'm also vegan, and found that whenever I went out to a restaurant my dessert choices were limited to sorbet, sorbet, and sorbet.  So I started making my own desserts. I wanted them to taste good though - so my ultimatum was to make delicious desserts that also happen to be dairy-free and egg-free. Every week or so, I challenge myself to try something new.  To recreate some kind of traditional dessert that tastes amazing without using animal products.
