This post has been languishing here completely unposted for like a year and a half. Seeing it now though, I’m definitely having a hankering for Florentines. Rum soaked fruit? Nuts? Coconut, Caramelized goodness? Chocolate in all the ways? Yes please. Luckily I was smart enough to have written out the recipe before apparently running away […]

So, obviously a little late to the party here, but the end of Game of Thrones! How’re you’ll feeling about that? Sad to the extreme?: Tired of hearing everyone always talking about it, so secretly thrilled to pieces that people might finally stop shaming you for not watching it, but don’t want anyone to actually […]

..anyone else a lover of Judy Bloom? I’m sure she’d punch me square in the face for sacrilegiously using her book title in this clearly not-intended-for-childhood-audiences way, but…what are you gonna do about it Judy? Huh???!!! Yeah, that’s what I thought (ummm…please don’t sue me, I’ll provide you with free Margarita cookie samples! That should […]

I think I have Ghostbusters on the brain because Kevin and I recently went to the Rec Room in downtown Toronto and did their fully immersive VR Ghostbuster experience thing (It’s a little pricey, but super cool and totally worth doing at least once. You get to shoot at the Marshmallow Man – at which […]

That’s a hard cookie name to pun on folks, let me tell you. Although it did bring me to the joy and hilarity that is Monte Python, so these cookies just clearly never stop giving 😉 . Depending on where you hail from, or which interwebs site you consult, I have seen these called Spanish […]

A Boy Named Tiramisu

December 31 , 2017 by Amber Trudeau - in Bars, Candy

I mean, who wouldn’t want that for a name? Oh Johnny Cash, things could’ve been so different for your titular song character if only a “Tira-” had been added to his name. There’s a reason people always nickname their loved ones after delicious treats (Sweetie Pie, Sugar, Honey, Babe….uh…that last one might mean your loved one […]

Because this will definitely make you feel like you’re in heaven/aka on a fluffy cloud of deliciousness in the sky. I don’t know what I’m saying, but the real point here is, despite the fact that this cake technically started off as a bit of a disaster for me (a bit more on that later since […]

It’s the final week! I know, I’m sad too. But don’t let it get you down. If you’re feeling blue, this recipe will take those blues and turn them into berries. Delicious delicious, east-coasty berries. This week, in an hômage to the maritime provinces, I bring you the blueberry grunt. I had technically never hear […]

So I came across the idea for these from one of the random cooking / baking shows that I’m obsessed with (do I remember which one? Of course not 🙁 I have a sneaking suspicion that it was from the couple of episodes of “The Great Australian Bake Off” that I watched after my sadness […]

About Amber

Amber Profile

Hi, I'm Amber Trudeau.  I bake.... a lot.

I'm also vegan, and found that whenever I went out to a restaurant my dessert choices were limited to sorbet, sorbet, and sorbet.  So I started making my own desserts. I wanted them to taste good though - so my ultimatum was to make delicious desserts that also happen to be dairy-free and egg-free. Every week or so, I challenge myself to try something new.  To recreate some kind of traditional dessert that tastes amazing without using animal products.
