They say everything’s bigger in Texas, but just because you may in theory want to stuff your face full of a massive, Texas-sized piece of chocolaty decadence, doesn’t mean you always should. Besides, I’m all about the portability of desserts wherever possible (which mostly relates back to the fact that if I make a cake the […]

So my oldest brother was having a big birthday recently. The big 4-0 (sorry Lincoln, your age has now been outed on the internet for all the world to see. I humbly apologize for completely ruining your attempts at joining “The club for super awesome cool people under the age of 40. Those that are […]

Well colour me embarrassed. After going on that ridiculously long rant the other week about muffins and how ridiculous they are, we now find ourselves with another muffin post (*blush*). I have no real defence except that making those blueberry oregano muffins reminded me of an old recipe I used to like as a kid […]

I don’t mean to recycle ideas. I know what you’re thinking (if you’ve actually been reading this blog) “Hey Amber,  what is this?! The Mission Impossible franchise? You’ve already done brownies with wine in them! Do you really think chocolate cookies with wine in them are really so clever and creative? Because they’re not. For […]

We made it! Although a pretty big part of me is sad as well. I’m happy to move on from herbs (no offence intended to any Herbs out there. I’m sure you’re great). I do feel like I learned a fair bit doing it though, so definitely not a loss, but the end of herb […]

I was running out of inspiration for this week I must admit. Well, that’s not totally true, I sadly have a notebook that’s half filled with ideas and things I want to do/ make at some point. But, you know, it’s kind of the baking equivalent of looking into your overflowing closet and declaring you […]

…and that’s why we’re all going to hell. Vile tempter. We all have Kevin to blame for this one (both the actual dessert, and I’m completely giving credit where it’s due for this deliciously punny headline as well – thanks Kevin!). We celebrated Kevin’s birthday last week, and as is my wont, I asked him […]

Time this week seemed to slip away from me much faster than usual. Normally I get super excited/ pumped thinking/ pondering what I’m going to whip up each week. In fact, I’m almost more excited at the prospect of what I’m planning than the actual consuming of said dessert and/ or baked good (I said […]

Or “Here’s the Scoop: I Came Up with this on the Fry” Dear Mashup Month, Today, I elevate you to a whole new level of mashup-y-ness in addition to combining you with a soupçon of high school nostalgia. Please just accept this honour and embrace being delicious. Sincerely yours, Amber The other day, for some […]

About Amber

Amber Profile

Hi, I'm Amber Trudeau.  I bake.... a lot.

I'm also vegan, and found that whenever I went out to a restaurant my dessert choices were limited to sorbet, sorbet, and sorbet.  So I started making my own desserts. I wanted them to taste good though - so my ultimatum was to make delicious desserts that also happen to be dairy-free and egg-free. Every week or so, I challenge myself to try something new.  To recreate some kind of traditional dessert that tastes amazing without using animal products.
